Non-Sequence Torn Curtain Archive

Pieces arranged by pairing---
Andrew Gillette & Marianne Kensington
--Note: The inspiration to write for Gillette came about when a RL friend who happens to be a former LJ-er made a wager with me that I could never write Gillette as a bumbling romantic. I almost lost the wager because Gillette!Muse and Elizabeth!Muse, while enjoying a friendly truce in my fic-verse, refused to glance starry-eyed at one another. . . And I CANNOT write slash. My salvation came in the form of the matchmaking plot-point in the TC sequence and a conversation about Kate Winslet I was having with
classics_lover at the time. Being completely obsessed with "Sense and Sensibility" I decided to insert Kate’s character from the novel/movie . . . I have been obsessed with the pairing ever since.
Theodore Groves & Margaret Kensington
--Note: This is another pairing that happened by accident as I had originally intended to keep Theo as the kept man of the widowed Mrs. Dashwood. Margaret was originally supposed to be nothing more than an annoying young nuissance who inadvertently helps her mother drive a wedge between Marianne and Andrew. But, I believe that it was
bonkatonka that pointed out that I had created chemistry between Margaret and Theo in one of the throw-away pieces that I never finished. This chemistry filtered into the sequenced archive, and I decided to write more things for them.
Samuel Quincy & Magpie Fletchley, with persons from American Colonial History
--Note: I write a LOT of fiction dealing with American Colonial History. Most of it never sees the light of day because I don’t know where to post it. Samuel Quincy is a somewhat obscure figure in American History, and fit in very well as Elizabeth’s cousin. Magpie is entirely the creation of
classics_lover. In Samuel and his pairing with Magpie, I have found a way to indulge my interest in Colonial Boston (and the historical figures therein).
The Children of the "Torn Curtain" Universe:
(Samuel Norrington, Sarah Gillette, and Josiah Quincy II)
--Note: Samuel Norrington is the progeny of Elizabeth Swann and James Norrington. Sarah Gillette is the result of the marriage between Marianne Kensington and Andrew Gillette. Josiah Quincy (so named after his father’s brother) is Samuel Quincy’s son by Hannah Hill Quincy. As of yet, there are no pairings. (I must, however, admit that I am attracted to the idea of another manifestation of Gillington.) Sarah spends a little time in Boston throughout her young life because her father, sentimental as he is, sometimes cannot bear to leave his wife and daughter behind on his routine tours of the NA-continental ports. The family of James Norrington occasionally is seen in Boston because James often gives in to his wife’s intermittent whining and very convincing persuasion techniques.

classics_lover written for Andrew/Marianne by fusing TC-verse with the Jampie/Birdington-verse. - A Room With A View: Looking over the town with a spyglass, Marianne is rewarded with a glimpse of her young man. However, she is also awarded another view she never quite expected.

- Reminders: A kitten pops its head out of Andrew’s pocket and reminds Marianne of an old acquaintance.
- Scherzo (Ridiculousness and Romance): Marianne has another suitor but is quickly intimidated by the presence of the ginger kitten.
- Blemish: Andrew has a speckle just above his upper lip. Marianne makes special note of it.
- The Sam That Knew Too Much: Silly piece trying my hand at writing Margaret Kensington (Marianne’s cousin)-- Also a practice in writing a gossipy piece. Centers around Andrew/Marianne.
- With Chocolate On Top: Marianne tries to bake a cake with humorous results.
- Lightning: A PWP containing some pre-marital sex. Though, as it only occurred a week or two before the actual wedding, let's just gloss over the whole "pre-marital" part.
- The Morning After The Storm: Post-coital scene that also speaks to the Samuel/Magpie story arc of the Torn Curtain universe.
- Circumstances: Guess who are about to be parents!

- Rondo 01: Surprises: Andrew and Marianne realize that the heart of Lieutenant Groves might have been captured by a young wallflower.
- Rondo 02: The Unfamiliar: Margaret notices Lieutenant Groves looking at her in an unfamiliar way and is unable to identify it. (UST)
- Restless: Smothered by the happiness of the many couples surrounding her, Margaret (believing herself to be the stuff that spinsters are made of) makes an escape from Elizabeth Norrington's birthday celebration. She meets a jilted lover and flirts with an effort at heroism before returning.
- Nandito Ako (PG): Margaret Kensington is having a terrible night. Thrust into the spotlight by an overbearing mother, insulted by the town pony, and slighted by the Lieutenant Governor... she runs home to find a bit more embarrassment, and to be served a confession.
- Nandito Ako (R): All of the above, plus several more steamy paragraphs.

- To Return (II): After breaking the news to his cousin, Samuel faces the unfortunate task of telling his lover of his imminent departure.

- The First Cut Is The Deepest: Over a year after returning to Boston, Samuel still hasn’t forgotten his Magpie. With the help of important figures in American Colonial History (John and Abigail Adams, Samuel Adams, Lt. Gov. Hutchinson), Samuel Quincy is introduced to the woman who will later become his wife.

- Changes: (See additional reference under the Samuel/Magpie section). Just out of their toddling years, Sarah Gillette and Josiah Quincy meet for the very first time.
- To Be Heard: Disturbed by the heated political debates being staged at the home of his parents, young Josiah Quincy escapes into a world of sound (drums). Young Sarah gives him her sympathy
Ensemble
--Note: Everything else.
- Better Than Dreaming: Marianne has a happy dream of how things might have been. Elizabeth has a nightmare in which she somehow turned into Sharman MacDonald’s daughter. Magpie slaps some sense into them.
- What the Devil?: Commodore Norrington, Lieutenant Groves, Captain Gillette and a regimental drummer are shocked and appalled at a societal announcement made by Lt. Gov. Dickerson.
- Muse On Strike: Piece features Andrew, Elizabeth, James and Theo in muse form. Two of the muses compete for sympathy, the other two look on in amusement.
- A Dish Best Served Cold: Written by
classics_lover. Groves serves up a little dish of vengeance on behalf of his friends for the insufferable Miss Carmichael - Muse on the Warpath: Piece features Theo, Elizabeth, James, Marianne, and Andrew all in muse form. Elizabeth!muse is out for blood of her defamer. She'll stop at nothing for vengeance-- even if she has to maim a muse in another fandom. (crack!fic)
